“All good resolutions are already made, we just need to apply them.” (Blaise Pascal)
Eating healthier, exercising more and spending more time with the family – we always have plenty of goals, and at the start of each year we set ourselves fresh resolutions which we plan to implement in the coming year.
But why only this one time per year? You can use every day to get closer to your goals and view every day, not just each year, as a new opportunity. We too are back in action – get ready for news and current topics from WIKA.
We hope you enjoy reading the first newsletter of this year.

1. WIKA participation in current exhibitions
|
The inventor Thomas Alva Edison once said: “If there is a way to do something better – find it!” That's exactly what we've done. We would like to present you our innovations and solutions on our new WIKA stand at Anuga FoodTec (20 - 23 March), Hannover Messe (23 - 27 April), MSR special exhibition (16 May) and Achema (11 -15 June).
Solutions and stimuli arise, above all, through dialogue – make use of the opportunity to discuss your applications with our experts. On your request, we will be happy to send you a complimentary ticket voucher.
The exhibition team will be pleased to welcome you to our stand!

2. New building and acquisition – Investment in electrical temperature measurement
|
Last year, a new, larger office building was built at the Klingenberg/Röllfeld site, which we were able to move into at the end of the year. The new building has created a suitable environment for the further expansion of the engineering and customer service divisions for electrical temperature measurement. This will allow us to respond even faster and more flexibly to technical enquiries and to develop customer-specific solutions.
At the same time, we have gained 1,000 m² of production space. Not only does this have a positive impact on production capacity and delivery times, it has also created the necessary resources to enable the integration of the custom probe manufacturing acquired last year from EMERSON (formerly “Custom Sensor” EMERSON).

3. New DIN standards for pressure gauges
|
With the publication of the new DIN 16001, DIN 16002 and DIN 16003 series of standards, mechanical high pressure, absolute pressure and differential pressure gauges can also now be manufactured and marked in accordance with a national standard. The EN 837 standard is not relevant for these pressure gauges since it only covers pressure measuring instruments for gauge pressure up to and including 1,600 bar.
In order to define an individual standard for high pressure, absolute pressure and differential pressure gauges as well, WIKA initiated the creation of the corresponding standards. As a member of the DIN committee, WIKA has participated actively in the preparation of these DIN standards.

4. Instrumentation valves and valve manifolds
|
The WIKA product programme for pressure measuring instruments also covers a wide portfolio of instrumentation valves and valve manifolds.
The non-rotating spindle tip design reduces wear on the valve seal. Thus, the leak tightness can be guaranteed over a long time. With the blow-out proof design of the valve, working safety is ensured, especially in applications with high pressure loading.
WIKA offers instrumentation valves with various designs, process connections, materials and certificates. As an option, complete assemblies of instrumentation valves with pressure measuring instruments and/or other associated accessories can also be offered. These complete solutions are known as “hook-ups” in the industry.

5. Pressure switch for high electrical loads
|
We have extended our family of pressure switches with a heavy-duty instrument for machine building. The model PSM-520 can switch electrical loads of up to AC 230 V/10 A.
The robust instrument has been designed, in particular, for use in the pump and compressor industry. The switch point can be individually set on site, while a protection cap prevents any accidental alteration.

6. Automated thermometer calibration
|
Since temperature is a slowly actuating variable, the automation of the calibration process for thermometers is of particular interest.
Our CTR3000 reference thermometer supports you in this. In accordance with predefined routines, it controls the connected temperature source, e.g. a dry-well calibrator or a calibration bath, and thus calibrates your test items automatically. The measuring points are set in accordance with the calibration routine and all measured values are recorded one after the other. All data for the creation of certificates are available for download from the CTR3000.
Thus, even calibrations with many measuring points and long settling times; which have been very time-consuming up to now, will be able to be completely automated in the future and thus be highly efficient.

7. Strap-on thermometer or screw-in thermometer? Temperature measurement of pipelines
|
When designing measuring points on pipelines, many different factors for selecting thermometers must be taken into account. For the decision whether a screw-in thermometer or a strap-on thermometer should be used, aspects such as response time, accuracy and ambient temperature are relevant.
